Plasma Cutting Dust Collection:Our client operates a metal fabrication facility in Zibo, Shandong Province. They recently expanded their production capacity with a large-scale CNC plasma cutting system. The cutting table measures an impressive 14 meters in length and 4 meters in width. But this industrial powerhouse brought a serious challenge — plasma cutting generates massive volumes of smoke and dust that threaten worker health and safety.Accumulated dust also settled throughout the workshop, turning daily cleanup into a labor-intensive nightmare. The production team struggled to maintain air quality standards while keeping up with demanding output schedules.
After conducting an on-site assessment, we proposed a canopy hood dust collection solution specifically designed for gantry-style plasma cutting systems. At its core is a dedicated dust collection hood mounted directly above the gantry. This hood precisely matches the dimensions of the entire gantry structure, ensuring complete coverage of the cutting zone. We fixed the collection hood to the gantry frame, allowing it to move synchronously with the cutting head.
When plasma cutting begins, fumes rise straight into the canopy hood. A powerful negative pressure fan then draws these fumes through a sliding air duct system into the dust collector. Inside the unit, multi-stage filtration removes harmful particulates. Cleaned air meets indoor emission standards and recirculates safely back into the workshop.
We selected our flagship MLWF800H model for this application. This unit delivers an air volume of 8,000–10,000 m³/h while consuming only 7.5 kW of power — an excellent balance of performance and energy efficiency. The collector's footprint measures 1350 × 1210 × 2750 mm, making it compact enough for easy integration into existing workshop layouts without requiring major structural modifications.
First, the synchronized canopy hood design ensures 100% fume capture efficiency. Unlike fixed extraction points that miss fumes at the edges, our system follows the cutting head everywhere, eliminating dead zones. Second, the sliding air duct technology allows unrestricted gantry movement — the duct expands and contracts smoothly as the hood travels, maintaining consistent suction pressure throughout the entire cutting area.
Third, the modular filtration system provides flexible maintenance. Operators can access and replace filter elements without shutting down production, minimizing downtime. Furthermore, the MLWF800H operates quietly, reducing noise pollution in the work environment. The entire system integrates seamlessly with existing CNC controls, allowing automated start/stop synchronization with cutting operations.
