The welding fume and dust removal project of a special vehicle manufacturing company in Handan has been completed.
This time, the focus is on handling the smoke and dust in the welding workshop. There’s a lot of welding work, and all the welded pieces are large, so dust and smoke accumulate quite a bit in the workshop, and the air circulation isn’t great.
To protect the workers’ health, improve the air quality and working environment in the welding workshop, and meet national occupational health and environmental standards, we’re going to tackle the welding smoke and dust in the workshop.
This workshop is a newly built facility with 3 bays, 24 meters wide and 100 meters long. There are several welding stations spread out, and the workpieces are quite large. The welding stations are not fixed, so they need to make way for overhead cranes to lift the workpieces. There's one laser cutting machine measuring 14 meters by 2.3 meters, but none of them have dust purification equipment.
Given that the welding workpieces are quite large, the dust removal method shouldn’t interfere with lifting the workpieces or affect workers’ efficiency. So, we recommend using a blow-and-suction centralized dust removal system.

The smoke and dust purifier comes with added duct return and supply air inlets. The return air inlets are distributed and positioned at heights where smoke and dust are most concentrated (4-7 meters, with density varying depending on the welding points). After filtration, the air meets indoor circulation standards and flows through the ducts to the supply air outlet, continuously circulating at the same floor level in the smoke and dust purification system — the smoke and dust blowing and suction purification system.
The high-density collection area is very efficient at capturing harmful smoke and dust; it uses a high-efficiency filter that fully meets indoor emission standards, with a filtration efficiency of 99.9%, effectively improving the work area environment. Since the smoke collection isn't directly aimed at the source, the dust removal system isn't affected by the size of the welding workpiece or changes in the welding station. It completely solves the smoke and dust purification problem without causing secondary pollution to the atmosphere.
Using the two devices together creates a perfect blow-and-suction purification system. It only needs half the airflow of traditional mixed air systems, which greatly reduces energy consumption. Since the smoke and dust are filtered, it meets indoor emission standards, so indoor air can be recirculated and avoids wasting indoor heating or cooling energy. The dust removal system isn’t affected by the operator’s habits, so workers won’t be disturbed by it while working, which can significantly boost productivity.
The blow-suction centralized dust collection is suitable for welding large structural parts, especially when the welding position isn't fixed and the workpieces are huge, making it hard to capture welding fumes. The fan speed can automatically adjust based on the dust concentration in different parts of the workshop, saving energy.
