How to determine whether there is an oil mist problem

1628236433(1)

All metalworking operations produce oil mist and fume to varying degrees. Oil mist produced by emulsion and oil smoke produced by pure oil generally contain a variety of additives harmful to human body. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the oil mist to ensure a safe and clean working environment.

Oil mist refers to the formation of suspended droplets over 1 micron when oil emulsions are used as coolants/lubricants in the processing of metal and ceramic materials. Water vapor from the cutting process can also be a problem. Emulsifiers typically contain 90-95% water and the rest is soluble. Oil mist is an infinite number of particles suspended in the air. These particles are mainly produced by oil emulsions/emulsifiers. Oil mist, generally defined as droplet particles of less than 1 micron, can be produced by mineral oil based metal working fluids such as oily metal cutting oil or pure oil. If these oil mist and soot are not treated, the additives in them will be harmful to human health.

The harm of oil mist to human body and environment
It is well known that prolonged and repeated exposure to oil-filled fog is harmful to human health. This means that good ventilation needs to be installed in all working conditions. Oil mist can make sites, equipment and products greasy, such as slippery floors, a safety hazard.
In addition, modern machine tools are controlled by sophisticated electronic components, and if the circuit board is eroded by oil mist, the equipment will shut down, thus reducing productivity. A thin layer of oil mist on production equipment can greatly hinder production.

How to determine whether there is an oil mist problem
The oil mist problem is obvious in many cases. Sometimes traces of oil mist can be clearly seen on the ground, walls, lamps and equipment. Where there is oil mist there will be a distinct smell. Oil mist can usually be seen on the ceiling of the workshop, especially under light.

Oil mist solution
MOLAND's oil mist filtering solutions can be used in any process that produces oil mist, from conventional machines to the latest CNC machines. We provide high efficiency filters and drainage solutions for various operations such as grinding, turning, drilling, grinding, quenching, cold forging, etc.

With the development of technology, the operation rate of the machine will become higher and higher, and the oil mist generated in the process will become more delicate, which puts forward higher requirements for the purification of oil mist. In response to this trend, we are constantly updating and improving our filtering technology to deal with oil mist problems such as CNC machine tools with greater efficiency.

When the machine is running at speeds exceeding 20,000 RPM or more and using high pressure coolant (& GT; 145-220 psi/ 10-15 bar), the Moland MLWF-100 Mobile Fume Extractors is the most appropriate choice for handling such cases.
