5 Electric Rotary Fume Hoods + 12,000 m³/h Welding Dust Collector: Installation & Commissioning Complete

We recently completed the installation and commissioning of a multi-station welding fume extraction system for an industrial workshop. Specifically, the project pairs 5 electric rotary fume extraction hoods with a Moland 12,000 m³/h welding dust collector, delivering effective fume capture and filtration across multiple welding stations.

Project Background

The workshop runs several welding stations simultaneously, and this generates significant welding fumes that compromise air quality and pose health risks to operators. Previously, the client had relied on basic local exhaust ventilation; however, insufficient airflow and limited coverage meant welding fumes were not effectively captured at the source.

Welding Dust Collector System Design

Based on the workshop layout and welding processes, we configured the following solution:

  • Main Unit: The Moland 12,000 m³/h cartridge-type welding dust collector achieves filtration efficiency above 99.9%, and emission concentrations comply with national occupational health standards.
  • Fume Hoods: We installed 5 electric rotary fume extraction hoods to cover 5 welding stations. Each hood rotates 360°, so welders can adjust the capture direction to match their working position — ensuring fumes are captured before they spread.
  • Ductwork: We custom-routed the ducting based on the actual workshop layout, minimizing bends to reduce system resistance and ensuring balanced airflow across all branches.

Installation & Commissioning

During installation, our technical team carried out airflow balancing on every branch duct, verifying that all 5 hoods maintain consistent and adequate capture velocity when running simultaneously. After commissioning, welding fume concentration in the workshop dropped significantly — in fact, visible smoke near the workstations was substantially reduced. As a result, the client confirmed satisfaction with the performance.

Equipment Advantages

  • Electric Rotary Fume Hoods: Unlike fixed hoods, the 360° rotary design adapts to multi-angle welding operations. Therefore, the capture opening follows the weld torch direction, delivering a higher fume capture rate.
  • 12,000 m³/h Main Unit: The high-capacity airflow supports simultaneous multi-station operation. Moreover, the pulse-jet filter cleaning ensures easy maintenance and extended cartridge life.
  • Low-Noise Operation: The equipment keeps noise within acceptable levels, thus allowing normal conversation in the workshop.
